YOU
PLAY...THEY WORK!
All the people who have shared these testimonials are
working teachers or people with experience of singing and
education.
They have all heard Applied Piper
songs and most use them in
their classrooms as spice and garlic to their daily fare!
"The
rock
song -
rock and roll of course - brought this topic to life. It is
probably true that most of the staff are fed up to the back
teeth of hearing,
'Planet
earth keeps rocking on as it rolls around',
blasted
out down the corridors; but at least my class all know
what igneous,
sedimentary and metamorphic means, and what the oldest
rocks in the universe are! Brilliant song!"
Becky
Daniel, Yr4/5, Bradworthy Primary, Devon.
"I
must have played 'Somewhere'
- the song for
K.S.1 about houses and homes - a hundred times. The kids
ask for it over and over. They love the rhythms, and bellow
out the 'Home
Sweet Home Scrummy Home' chorus with great gusto. I
have asked for one on 'Minibeasts'
next and am
really looking forward to see what comes."
Chris
Langston, K.S.1, Ashwater Primary,
Devon.
"We
bought in the
Applied Piper for
our Christmas production. When he suggested doing the times
tables we hoped he was joking. He wasn't! Ten songs in ten
different styles all about the ten times tables! My
favourite was 999 - the nine times table blues. There was
something about a group of loud 10/11 year olds wailing:
'Woke
up this morning, what a louse, what a swine,
I heard the awful news, 1 x 9 still equals 9'
that
stayed with me long after the tinsel had faded! The kids
loved it; the parents whooped with delight. It was so much
more fun than counting shepherds!"
Phillip
Lassells, headteacher, Otterham Primary,
Cornwall.
"I
have known the Applied
Piper for decades, and am
delighted that at
last he
is sharing his songs with the world. They touch the heart;
they make you dance; they make you laugh! As an educational
writer (ex-teacher) I know the importance of fun in
contacting children. If anyone can make photo-synthesis a
hoot, the Applied
Piper
can!"
Iain
Dryden, Carla de Roquefort, France.
"I
never thought I'd be playing a song to help with sex
education. I only gave the challenge to test the Applied
Piper's claim that he could sing anything! Well he did. And
made a pretty good hash of it too. Not smutty or silly.
Down to earth and accurate. Mixed up facts and feelings in
a useful way. A great tool to use and a springboard for
challenging discussions!"
Richard
Stevenson, Headmaster, Bradworthy Primary,
Devon
